Dhaulagiri Round Trek - 20 days
Dhualagiri round involves snow trek and glacier walking therefore trekkers require previous alpine trekking experience making it extremely challenging trek. This is a perfect trip for those who desire more intense experience of the mountain adventure.
Dhaulagiri is the sixth highest mountain of the world standing at the height of (26,788 ft). Dhaulagiri was first climbed by a group of Swiss climbers in 1960 naming it as White Mountain. You will be trekking deep in to the Dhaulagiri Himal offering you wonderful views of gigantic north face of Dhaulagiri I, ending up at the Italian and Dhaulagiri North Base Camps. You will also cross two high passes, the French pass (17,581 ft) and Thapa Pass (17,000 ft) where you can get more spectacular views of Dhaulagiri, Thorong Peak, Annapurna I and the Kaligandaki River mainly known as home to one of the world's deepest gorges. You may encounter semi-wild Yak herds, Mountain Sheep or even the elusive Snow Leopard while in the remote valleys of this region.
Option :
This trek can be commenced from Jomson or either Pokhara at your choice.
However, if you trek down to Pokhara you can avail the opportunity to walk through cultivated fields connected to some of the mountain villages whilst enjoying at the shops, teahouses with unique lifestyle of Gurung, Chhetri, and Magar communities. During these days you will be walking along cobblestone paths, over suspension bridges and through dense forests, enjoying the vistas of some of the world’s most beautiful mountains.
The hot springs at Tatopani offers an excellent retreat of bathing in natural hot water after a strenuous trek. In the surrounding you find the majestic peak of Annapurna (26,538 ft) and Machhapuchhare (22,937ft). From Tatopani you make your way back to Pokhara, visiting, several monasteries and sites of religious importance on the way.
