Ganja La Pass Trek - 12 days
Ganja La pass is a prominent and famous pass connecting Langtang and Helambu but not a normal route of every trekker. Only trekkers of strenuous adventure dare to attempt this route. It is a 3 to 4 days trek with no Tea House or other facilities available making your bag pack heavier while walking, you have to sleep at tented camps only. From the pass the views across the valley to the peaks of the Langtang Himal are particularly stunning. At far distance you can see Shishapangma, the only 8000 meters peak in Tibet. After crossing the pass we reach to Tarkeghayang largest settlements of Tamang people in Helambu. The trek passes through some beautiful forests and very interesting villages on route giving you opportunity to meet homes of Brahmins, Tamangs and Sherpa people of Nepal. This place is adorned with scenic majesty and pleasant climate as well as a long history of Buddhism culture and ancient tradition of Tamang and Sherpas.

Itinerary in Details
| Day 01 | : | Early morning drive from Kathmandu to Dunche or Syabrubasi |
| Day 02 | : | Trek from Syabrubasi to Lama Hotel for 5 hours along the Langtang khola (river), consisting mainly of scrub oak trees at the bottom of high Rocky Mountains. After taking lunch at Bamboo lodge the ascent continues to steel suspension bridge at 2000m then extending our still climbs along side a series of waterfalls and finally reaching Rimche. From here the trail descends gently to Lama Hotel, at 2380m. |
| Day 03 | : | Trek from to Langtang Village, trail traverses up and down through the forest reaching Ghoretabela within 3 hours. From there, again a short climb for ½ hour will bring us to a Pass to the right of the spot where Langtang valley begins |
| Day 04 | : | Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Ghompa on a gentle ascent of 4 hrs to Kyangjing Gompa |
| Day 05 | : | Kyanjin Ghompa a day for acclimatization |
| Day 06 | : | Trek from Kyanjin Ghompa to Ngenang- As it is our first day from Kyanjin Gompa therefore, we will not hike for a longer period. The Ngenang (4000) is the last spot with good place to camp as later the track may be rough and tough. |
| Day 07 | : | Trek from Ngenang while Crossing Ganja La Pass to Keldang, today you may feel the trail rough to climb steeply towards the pass at 5106m. After crossing the pass the route descends to a small stream at 4400m, walking adjacent to the stream for few hours we reach at Keldang (4,280m.) where we will stop to camp. |
| Day 08 | : | Trek from Keldang to Dukpu- It is a very long walking day toward the summer settlement of Dukpu ( 4080m) and Stay overnight. |
| Day 09 | Trek from Dukpu to Tarke Gyang- from Dukpu thte trail descends along the ridge then climb to the pass giving you the views of Dorje Lakpa and some peaks of Khumbu regions. Later the walk decends through the pine and rhododendron forests finally reaching to Tarke Gyang village (largest settlements of Tamang in Helambu). | |
| Day 10 | Trek from Terek Gyang to Sermathang- From Terke Gyang we walk on a gradual flat trail entering into the village of Gangjwal(2500m) where we stop for lunch. After lunch the trail continues to be easy and at the same altitude along the side of the ridge by crossing a number of streams in the heart of Helambu region. Later we reach at the edge of the large village of Sermathang (2620m) which occupies some old gompa and Langtang National Park Office. Stay overnight at Sermathang. | |
| Day 11 | Trek from Sermathang to Melamche Bazzar- from Sermathang the trail follows the ridge passing shorter distance and dropping into a tiny and pretty village of Kakani situated on the ridge. This spot is extremely good for splendid mountain views where we take a break for lunch. From Kakani the trail traverses several picturesque of small villages and drops into Melamchi Pul Bazaar in about 3 hours. This bazaar has a collection of shops, teahouses and abundance of Lodges for us to stay overnight. | |
| Day 12 | Drive from Melamche Bazzar to Kathmandu (4 hours) and drop at your respective hotel. | |
